Who Was Australia's First Test Captain

David William Gregory captained Australia in their first Test Match against England at Melbourne in the year 1877. Gregory, a right handed bat, scored 1 and 3 respectively in the two innings of the Test Match which saw Australia defeat England by 45 runs.

Australia played 3 Test Matches under the captaincy of DW Gregory, out of which they won 2 and lost 1.  DW Gregory's did not achieve much with the bat in the 3 Test Matches that he played, his highest score being 43. Interestingly his first class average with the bat is a poor 14.57.
