India registered their 1st Test Win in the year 1952 when they defeated England by an innings and 8 runs at Madras (now Chennai) under the leadership of Vijay Hazare.

Match Stats: Batting first, England could put up only 266 on board with Vinoo Mankad claiming 8 English wickets while giving away just 55 runs in 38.5 overs. The Indians in reply put up an impressive show; thanks to centuries from Pankaj Roy (111 runs) and Polly Umrigar (130 runs) and declared their innings at the score of 457 for the loss of 9 wickets. England in their second innings were bowled out for just 183 - giving India its first test victory. Ghulam Ahmed and Vinoo Mankar took four wickets each. Vinoo Mankad ended the match with an impressive tally of 12 wickets.
