Allen Hill of England took the first wicket in test cricket when he dismissed Nat Thomson of Australia for the score of 1. Hill also took the first catch in test match cricket when he caught Tom Horan of Australia of the bowling of Alfred Shaw.
This was during the first ever test match; played between 15 - 19 March, 1877 at the MCC.

Brief Match Stats: Batting first Australia scored 245 runs in their first innings thanks to a splendid century by Charles Bannerman. England could put up only 196 runs in their first innings. In the second innings, Australia were bowled out for a 104. Chasing a target of 154 runs to win, England fell short and were bundled out for a score of 108. Tom Kendall took 7 wickets for Australia; who won the game by 45 runs.
